The Insulation Contractor industry ARMOR Insulations, LLC consists of establishments that are primarily engaged in installing insulation products for the nonmechanical control of temperatures in buildings. This includes insulation of the walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, and ductwork. The insulation materials installed may be fiberglass, cellulose, or spray foam. The contractors may also insulate mechanical equipment and ancillary lines and piping. Insulation Contractors may also install any acoustical materials for the purpose of temperature and/or sound control.

These specialized contractors can also be further categorized by method, with those that specialize in residential work working closely with homeowners and builders to add insulation to existing homes or incorporate it into new home construction. Insulation contractors with a commercial specialization will work with architects, engineers, and project managers to meet stringent building standards in commercial and industrial properties such as schools, hospitals, factories, and office buildings.
While many contractors are licensed by a state agency to perform insulation installation, it is important for consumers to review the credentials of each candidate before selecting one. Consumers can do this by asking friends and family for a recommendation, visiting the websites of licensed contractors, or by calling local utility companies for a list of reputable insulation contractors.
Before beginning insulation installation, crew leaders should complete a Minnesota Energy Resources Authorized Insulation Contractor training program. This online course is designed to provide insulation contractors with an understanding of the AIC program processes and procedures, including the requirements for completing AIC work.
