It’s a great investment that will benefit the whole school and wider community. Not only does it help children develop their physical capabilities but it teaches them teamwork and respect for others. It also helps develop their social skills and can lead to friendships that last into adulthood. Many schools are able to access funding from Sport England or local councils to assist with the cost of a new MUGA.
SAPCA, the recognised Trade Association for the Sports and Play Construction industry, have put together a useful guide to constructing a quality MUGA. The MUGA code of practice includes information about surfacing options, safety, design, construction, drainage and other essential project management considerations.
